BOTHAM'S
ASHES: Featuring an interview with
Ian Botham and BBC highlights from all
five days of one of England's greatest
ever Test matches.
Regularly
voted as one of the greatest moments
in the history of British sport, Ian
Botham's 149 not out against Australia
at Headingley in 1981 was nothing short
of miraculous. But the whole stroy of
that match - and the part played by
England's other heroes - is equally
fascinating...
HISTORY
OF THE ASHES Presented by Ashes
winning captain David Gower, History
of the Ashes is a comprehensive look
at one of the oldest and most keenly
contested of all international cricket
rivalries.
Beginning
with an explanation from the late great
broadcaster John Arlott as to how it
all began, the programme includes the
first moving footage of an Ashes tour
with the visit of Australia in 1905.
Featured in these early years are legendary
figures from the game including WG Grace,
Duleepsinjhi, Victor Trumper, Clem Hill,
Jack Hobbs and Herbert Sutcliffe.
There
is also an extended profile of the incomparable
Sir Don Bradman, the man who dominated
cricket in the 1930's and 40's, including
his victorious and emotional farewell
in 1948.
